The industry’s 9.3 percent growth rate stood out in Tuesday’s larger-than-usual state jobs report. The release covered both September and October data, catching up after the federal government shutdown delayed most economic reports.
It confirmed what economists had suspected: Oregon’s economic recovery continues unabated. Employers added 8,400 jobs from August through October, as unemployment fell for both months and landed at 7.7 percent. Unemployment is now the lowest it’s been in five years.
