Oregon Senate President Peter Courtney wants the Legislature to put off a vote on the Columbia River Crossing until February, instead of calling another special session.

Oregon Senate President Peter Courtney wants the Legislature to put off a vote on the Columbia River Crossing until February, instead of calling another special session.

“We should begin with public hearings and get the answers we need to fully consider this new approach. We should not predetermine the outcome of this process,” Courtney said in a statement Wednesday afternoon. “If we take it up again, we should wait until the Legislature comes back into its regularly scheduled session on Feb. 3.”

Whether Courtney’s push to delay a vote spells doom for the $2.7 billion project is anyone’s guess.
