Online rent collection startup Cozy closed a $5 million investment team and moved its executive team to Portland from San Francisco.

Founded in San Francisco last year, the company opened a Portland office in February because Cozy found it easier to hire software engineers in Oregon. Chief executive Gino Zahnd and chief technology officer John Bragg subsequently moved to Portland, too.

Cozy allows new employees to choose either the San Francisco or Portland office, but Zahnd said most – even new employees from outside either region – pick Portland. Of the company’s 14 employees, 10 work in Portland. (Its offices are on East Burnside Street.)
