The set-up involves glitzy tablets and video screens in front of Nordstrom’s and next to a Microsoft Surface information center. Passersby can scroll through information about the Affordable Care Act and Kaiser on the tablets. They can measure their body mass index and body fat on a machine. Passersby can request a quote for Kaiser Permanente health plans.
People can scroll through the Cover Oregon exchange and buy insurance from a desktop computer in a private area. Officials say they are pursuing sales leads rather than trying to force an immediate purchase.
