Oregon’s special session hearings started with two hours of testimony on pensions.

The legislature is considering further reductions to the cost-of-living adjustment for all retirees, including those at the lowest end of the income bracket. The bills they will consider Monday would reduce the COLA to 1.25 percent for all income less than $60,000 and to 0.15 percent for income above $60,000.

The legislature already passed one bill this year that reduced the COLA for retirees, but this one would have a more pronounced impact.
