Portland-based SoloPower Systems announced a deal to build a factory in South Korea.
The thin-film solar panel maker — known just as SoloPower before restructuring this summer — said it would launch a joint venture with Seoul-based CTI Co., Ltd.
The news arrives as SoloPower executives hunt for upwards of $50 million to keep operating in Portland. The state is relying on the company’s survival to pay off an estimated $30 million in loans and subsidies.
