Act-on to host first 'Gamify Green for Good' Hackathon

BEAVERTON, Ore.— March 26, 2013—Act-On Software, a leading provider of cloud-based integrated marketing automation software, today announced that it will be hosting its first annual ‘Gamify Green for Good’ Hackathon on Saturday, April 6 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:55 p.m. PDT. The event will take place at Act-On’s headquarters in Beaverton, OR. The ‘Gamify Green for Good’ Hackathon is intended to bring together the bright minds and top talent in the field of software development and computer programming in the greater Portland area. The ‘Gamify Green for Good’ Hackathon looks to inspire programmers, software developers, graphic designers and the like, to collaborate intensively to create software solutions to real-world problems, using the element of gamification to address those issues. Participants can bring an existing project, or start from scratch and build a new project. The challenge of the Hackathon is to integrate open APIs with mobile, web and social apps, to create a fun ‘Gamify Green for Good’ idea. The projects will be judged on creativity, practical use, and inspiration of ‘doing good, better’ in the community. 
This event is a great opportunity to spend the day coding web apps alongside senior engineers, and get help and advice from some of the most experienced, talented software developers in the Silicon Forest. The Hackathon will kick-off with gourmet coffee and Voodoo Doughnuts, followed by caffeine-fueled drinks and snacks, as well as lunch and dinner served by fabulous food carts. Craft beer and PBR will flow freely.
 
The event will conclude with an awards ceremony at 11:00 p.m., highlighting the “Best Hacks of the Day.” Attendees will have a chance to win multiple prizes given throughout the day, including Act-On swag, Sprocket Growlers and gift certificates for Growler fills. The grand prize is a private Brewvana Brewery tour for five, and greenbacks to donate to a local Portland-based charity or non-profit of their choice.
