The Oregon Insurance Division approved rate requests for insurers that provide coverage to small businesses.

The move follows a round of similar decisions for individual policies, for people who buy their own policies but are not on Medicare. The state plans to publicize details of those rates on oregonhealthrates.org by July10.

For small businesses in the Portland area, the cost to cover one 40-year-old male nonsmoker employee for a basic, or “bronze,” plan will run $202 to $317 a month, according to the state. After reviewing rate filings for reasonableness, regulators cut requested premiums for basic coverage by less than 5 percent for eight firms. Two requests were not cut at all. Providence Health Plan’s request was cut by 11.9 percent and that of Health Republic was cut by 19.2 percent.
