The lack of on-mountain lodging makes Oregon’s snowsports industry unique — and gives a boost to nearby towns, according to the report. In Bend, lodging taxes reached a new peak in December.
[An Oregon Employment Department report] points to a University of Oregon and ECONorthwest study that estimates skiing and other sports support 6,800 jobs in the state. Altogether, the industry makes a $481 million impact on the economy, that survey shows.
