The U.S. Coast Guard says Columbia River Crossing project managers haven’t given enough information for a permit.

In a letter sent last Friday, Rear Adm. K.A. Taylor said the agency can’t start a public comment period until CRC managers assess the Interstate 5 replacement span’s effects on the Columbia River navigation channel.

Taylor, the Coast Guard’s district commander in Seattle, wants more information regarding economic impacts on river users. The Coast Guard has veto authority over the project.
