Oregon officials lifted a five-month ban on mussel harvesting in southern Oregon.

Officials with the Oregon Department of Agriculture and the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife have lifted the prohibition on mussel harvest that had been in effect from Cape Arago 14 miles south of Coos Bay to the California border.

Shellfish samples taken from the area show that levels of paralytic shellfish toxins (PSTs) have dropped below the alert level.
