Lewis & Clark named 26-year-old Amber Case the youngest member of the college’s board of directors.
Case sold her Portland startup Geoloqi last year.
Lewis & Clark said it recruited Case to its board in part because it wants to connect with younger alumni — she graduated in 2008 — and in part because she’s an influential technologist in Portland and beyond. Case is a leader in an emerging field called “cyborg anthropology,” the study of how people interact with technology.
After Geoloqi sold last fall, to a large California mapping company called Esri, Case became head of Esri’s Portland research-and-development office. As a Lewis & Clark board member, Case said she hopes to help nurture a new entrepreneurship program at the college, and help students apply their liberal arts education in a practical way.
