Oregon will revive $3 million of a $121 million settlement with Lender Processing Services, accused of wrongfully foreclosing on homeowners.
Under the settlement, the company will be required to reform its business practices and to correct foreclosure documents as necessary. The agreement prohibits unauthorized people or those without first-hand knowledge of the facts laid out in documents to sign them. The money goes to the states and the District of Columbia.
“The Oregon Department of Justice is committed to a fair and equitable foreclosure process,” state Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum said in the news release. “We will continue to be vigilant against companies that cut corners and violate the rights of Oregonians.”
