In fact, after ranking in the top five states with the nation’s most expensive gasoline during the first five months of 2012, Oregon and Washington – where the average dropped three cents to $3.48 – have seen a steady slide to the middle of the pack.
Washington is 22nd most expensive, while Oregon is 23rd, according to the AAA. California, however, remains fifth in the nation at $3.74 a gallon.
Just a couple months ago, the Oregon average for regular unleaded was as much as 30 cents a gallon more than the national average. But the gap is now less than six cents.
