Beaverton now has a supply store for backyard farmers called New Suburbia.
The store carries a multitude of products: feed for different animals, seeds, canning supplies, chicks and chicken supplies, compost, kitchen equipment and assorted other homemade items such as soaps and lotions. The store focuses on organic/non-genetically modified products and also prides itself on trying to carry American-made and American-recycled goods.
“There’s been an upswell of backyard farming,” says Julie Hobson. “But out here, the closest place to get supplies was in Aloha. So there’s a need.”
