Santa Clara housing planned


A builder is planning a 61-lot housing tract in Santa Clara, a significant project given the local housing market.

While Boyd Iverson’s planned 61-lot housing development is remarkably large given Eugene-Springfield’s poor housing market, the builder/developer plans to take his Santa Clara project slowly.

For one thing, it will take a minimum of 1½ years to shepherd the proposal through city land use processes. The land is designated in the Eugene-Springfield Metropolitan General Plan — the area’s blueprint for growth — for low-density residential development, but the land is zoned for agricultural uses and the zoning must be changed.

For another, he’s got 15 lots and two houses nearby awaiting buyers in the first two, 50-unit Rivendell phases he developed.
