The Boardman Power Plant – Oregon’s largest electrical plant and a major employer – is at a crossroads after coming under fire for its emissions plans.

PGE recently announced it will add more than a half billion dollars worth of pollution control equipment to the plant to comply with new Oregon Department of Environmental Quality rules concerning haze…

But PGE’s move to lower the plant’s emissions is not enough for some environmental groups. The Sierra Club and several others are suing PGE, saying the Boardman plant violates the Clean Air Act. They say PGE should have obtained a permit under the Prevention of Significant Deterioration program when it was first built or when it made modifications in the 1990s.
