A new downtown Springfield retailer grew out of the recession and aims to help people still recovering from the downturn.
[Second Thoughts Resale] co-owner Erica Ware said she lost her job because of the recession — even though she owned her own business. But the business, a day care center, saw its clientele drop with the economy as people either moved away or lost their jobs and stayed home with their children, she said.
“There’s no jobs that are safe, it doesn’t matter if you’ve been there one year or 25,” Ware said. “It kind of trickles down. I lost a lot of business.”
Ware said she and [co-owner Christine] Thomas know that a lot of people are still on a tight budget without much to spend, even on necessities. So, she said, “We try to keep prices low, to kind of help people in this economy. We try to stock quality (items) at affordable prices.”
