Oregon’s population grew just 12% between 2000 and 2010 after increasing 20% the prior decade. Neighboring states Nevada, Idaho and Washington grew 35%, 21% and 14%, respectively, with only California growing slower than Oregon at 10%. Within the state, Washington, Multnomah and Deschutes counties added the most new residents. Deschutes was the fastest-growing in terms of percentage, +49%, followed by two other Central Oregon counties: Crook, +42% and Jefferson, +20%. The fastest growing cities by percentage were Happy Valley, +163%, Sisters, +102%, and Redmond, +93%. In terms of actual residents, Portland,+54,714, Bend, +31,096, and Hillsboro, +21,029, added the most population. On the other hand, in Eastern Oregon, Gilliam, Baker, Wallowa, Grant and Sherman counties all declined in population during the last 10 years.
