Oregon shells out $30 million in planning funds for the Columbia River Crossing project.
Oregon’s $30 million contribution for planning for the Columbia River Crossing project joins another $15 million the state provided a few months ago. Washington has already pitched in $50 milion for the bistate project.
The decision comes only a few months after the Oregon Legislature failed to cough up more planning money for replacing the Interstate 5 Bridge, extending light rail into Vancouver and rebuilding or upgrading seven freeway interchanges, at a cost of up to $4.1 billion.
The Oregon commission tapped a transportation project account the Oregon Legislature created when it passed a transportation bill earlier this year.
