The share of Oregon’s workers who are covered by unions declined in 2005, dropping from 15.2% in 2004 to 14.5% last year. Oregon’s union membership rate is higher than the national rate but lower than in neighbor states Wasington and California. Unions have seen a long-term drop in membership as a percentage of the overall workforce as most new jobs are created without union ties.
