Note: Harry & David Holdings in Medford filed SEC registration in August 2005 to become a publicly traded company with the proposed New York Stock Exchange symbol of “HND.” The company, formerly known as Bear Creek Corp., was purchased by New York-based Wasserstein & Co. in 2004 from Japan-based Yamanouchi Pharmaceutic`al.

Correction: In the August issue of Oregon Business, the print version of Oregon’s Public Companies list inadvertently omitted PW Eagle, which moved its headquarters in Eugene in 2004 and is ranked no. 16 in this Web version of the list.  As a result companies ranked 17-61 in the printed version have all moved down one rank.

EPSEarnings per shareFully diluted earnings per share.
P/EPrice/earnings ratioPrice of a stock at fiscal year end divided by its earnings per share.
D/EDebt-to-equity ratioTotal liabilities, not just the long-term debt, divided by shareholder’s equity and expressed as a percentage.
ROEReturn on equityAmount (percentage) earned on a company’s shareholder investment. Income divided by shareholders’ equity as of the fiscal year end.
ROIReturn on investmentAmount (percentage) earned on a company’s total capital. Income divided by total assets as of the fiscal year end.
MARKET VALUEFigured by multiplying the number of shares outstanding by the closing stock price as of Dec. 31, 2005.
