Former Gov. John Kitzhaber’s health reform efforts got a boost when Starbucks made a Kitzhaber quote on health care dysfunction one of the 160-plus “The Way I See It” features that appear on the company’s cups. Kitzhaber, a physician, got help getting on the cup from friend and Earth Day founder Dennis Hayes, whose quote on the national budget deficit was the first in Starbucks’ series. We’d call it a total coup for Kitzhaber, except that only a grande-or-bigger latte will land his quote on your cup. And we don’t have to tell you what those big frothies are doing to the nation’s belt line.
