ARLINGTON Not only is the planned solar-power project in Eastern Oregon going to be a first for Vancouver-based Columbia Energy Partners, it also will be Oregon’s largest when it’s completed at the end of the year. CEP has focused on wind power since it began in 2001 but will use the 10-acre, $20 million project, partly funded through Oregon’s Business Energy Tax Credit, to enter the solar-power sphere. If all goes as planned, says president Chris Crowley, the project will be a pilot for future solar endeavors in Oregon. The two megawatts of electricity generated will be funneled into PacifiCorp’s local transmission grid and is not expected to affect electricity prices, says Crowley.
