Ashland cook and entrepreneur Lori Forrest can barely keep up with the demand for her meringues shaped like mushrooms and acorns.

Forrest has gained loyal followers from her appearance at the National Association of Specialty Food Trade Fancy Food Show in New York and media coverage in InStyle magazine.

“I got piles of leads from the New York show,” said Forrest whose mushrooms appeared on the new product shelf. “They received almost perfect scores. I got slammed by everyone wanting some, even the White House chefs.”

Retailer Williams-Sonoma wanted to be her exclusive marketer, Forrest said. “I was negotiating for months, but they low-balled me and I couldn’t do it. Williams-Sonoma is gold star in the food world. I really wanted to be in their catalog, but I wasn’t about to give my food away, when I can sell it for more with other people.”
