The Main Street Alliance of Oregon proposed an institution that would be similar to North Dakota’s more than 90-year old system.
It would be a “bankers bank,” officials said, and business owners would continue to work with loan officers at community banks.
At a press briefing in Salem, Main Street Alliance officials said their proposal for a state bank likely will be considered by the Legislature this year, although it has not been introduced.
