Artist turns wheat bounty into business

Linda Bisnett started her wheat art business as a side project, but a relationship with Panera Bread helped turn her hobby into a successful business.

Now Bisnett uses around two acres of wheat each year to make centerpieces and wreaths that sell well this time of year.

“It is my busiest time (during the holidays), but it’s pretty constant throughout the year,” Bisnett said. “You’d think it would be harvest time, throughout the fall.”

One of the reasons that Bisnett gets so busy is the sheer amount of time it takes to make one of her creations. For every wheat stalk she uses, she must sort through 10 more that don’t make the cut.
