Portland-based grocery chain New Seasons Market has opened its 10th store on Hawthorne.
New Seasons has grown steadily and now employs 1800 people in greater Portland.
The company plans to open its 11th store on Progress Ridge in 2011.
New Seasons President Lisa Sedlar said the grocer will open one to two stores per year in the near future. She wouldn’t confirm future locations, but this summer, New Seasons hired Urban Works Real Estate to help it identify potential sites.
Developers and neighborhood groups alike want New Seasons, said Craig Sweitzer, principal with Urban Works.
“A lot of people view them as a figurehead for neighborhood renewal,” Sweitzer said.
