The Sierra Club supports the EPA’s proposal to regulate coal ash because of the PGE Boardman plant and the Colstrip plant in Montana.

Both the plants produce electricity for Oregon residents by burning coal.

“Our household garbage is regulated more strictly than coal ash is, right now. It’s basically a patchwork of rules; every state has their own rules, some states have no rules. What we need is a federally-enforceable standard that the EPA can enforce.”
