Malheur Occupation price tag hits $100,000 a week


Oregon Rep. Earl Blumenauerwants occupiers to payback the $100,000 costs to local and state law enforcement.

Blumenauer on Wednesday introduced legislation in the U.S. House of Representatives that would require the federal government to quickly reimburse local and state agencies for those costs, and allow the federal government to pursue civil legal action against the armed militia members to recoup the money.

Occupiers have held the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge headquarters near Burns since the start of January, about five weeks.
