Pacific Seafood CEO Frank Dulcich grew the company into a $1 billion a year business.

Now he stands accused of abusing the company’s power and ruining the livelihood of local fishermen.

“During the last decade, the monopoly of these markets by Pacific Seafood has done more to undermine the economics of fishermen, fishing families and fishing communities than any other single factor,” said Mike Haglund, a Portland lawyer whose firm is representing the Whaleys, [commercial fishermen who are suing Pacific Seafood].

Critics equate Pacific’s impact on the fishing industry to Wal-Mart’s effect on the rest of the retail sector.
