Bend Venture Conferences announces 5 finalists


Startups will vie for roughly $500,000 in the growth-stage contest.

Five startups will vie for roughly $500,000 in the growth-stage contest in two weeks at the Bend Venture Conference.

The angel conference recently announced which companies would be considered:

  1. HoneyComb: Transforming agriculture with on-demand data services and drone technology.
  2. NemaMetrix: Offers an early stage drug discovery platform that reduces the cost of discovery 100x by increasing the success of identifying drug candidates early.
  3. Odysys: Helps hotels drive more direct bookings at a lower cost. Hoteliers can connect, manage and track digital marketing efforts with one simple platform.
  4. Perfect Company: Perfect Company’s connected scale and interactive recipe solution revolutionizes cooking. Currently building a large, active user base on which they can build food content business.
  5. Scratch-it: A Software as a Service marketing solution that manages a new type of content called “reveal,” which consistently improves engagement by 10x.

Early Stage finalists include companies that puts workout facilities in airports, make products to streamline outdoor activity and detects impending earthquakes, among others.

“This group of finalists represents a breadth of industries, ranging from software to the Internet of Things to drones,” said Brian Vierra, Venture Catalyst for Economic Development for Central Oregon, the organizer of the conference. “I’m really impressed with how far some of these companies have come in a very short period of time.”

Ten companies are pitching for the roughly $15,000 BendBroadband Business prize. The full list of companies can be found here. The Bend Venture Conference takes place in downtown Bend Oct. 15 and 16.
