Oregon Business readers are feeling pretty good — about regional affairs and the state economy. The mood is the most upbeat since 2005; optimism is up 19 points since 2011. Perceptions of the economy have been improving steadily in the past two years. Cheerfulness is not a road map, however. Although two out of three Oregonians think the tax system is due for an overhaul, support for a sales tax is declining. Making a sales tax “revenue neutral” would increase support for the change. Research partner CFM Strategic Communications conducted the survey of 426 readers in March.
