A winter sports park and convention center were among projects under discussion at a public meeting in Sisters on Sunday.

Five projects in total were discussed at the “community assets meeting,” the Bend Bulletin reports.

The city held a town hall meeting in February 2014 to solicit ideas for community asset projects after an amphitheater project failed to get community approval. Out of 50 proposed projects, four favorites emerged: a winter sports park, a field house, a convention center and an art, science and history center. The Community Assets Committee was formed in June to research and analyze the pros, cons and costs of each project. On Sunday, they presented their findings on each and offered a fifth option that combined a winter sports park and convention center, with space for art, science and history exhibitions.

“We have no vested interest in any particular project,” said committee chairman Bill Hall. “We’re not saying do all of them or any of them. It’s just more information on what the people felt were best.”

The development is still in its earliest stages as committee members stressed that these meetings were solely for collecting information.
