The managing partner of an investment group that recently pledged $20 million for Hillsboro-based startup Zapproved said he is not done scouring Portland for software companies.

K1 Investment Management is seeking to develop more opportunities with software companies, the Portland Business Journal reported Wednesday.

“We are excited about what we see up there,” [Neil Malik] said about the Portland deal flow, and noted he is expected to be in town meeting with companies in the next week or two. The firm usually makes its first investment in a company once there is a product on the market and some paying customers. Typical investment targets usually have 25 to 50 employees, he said. Investments range from $5 million to $50 million.

“We see a lot of entrepreneurial activity taking hold inside of Portland,” he said. “We are excited to make more investments in the area.”
