The National Defense Authorization Act is one of the last bills Congress will pass in 2014.

Oregon-specific legislation attached to the new version of the NDAA includes a bill that expands the Oregon Caves National Monument by 4,070 acres while designating the underground stream as a Wild and Scenic River, making the River Styx the first underground watercourse to receive that designation.

Legislation that would pave the way for Oregon State University to relocate its Hermiston Agriculture and Research Center from its current site without giving the original lot back to the federal government also made its way into the NDAA.
