Wyden pushes tax legislation

Oregon Sen. Ron Wyden and New Hampshire Sen. Judd Gregg are pushing a major tax bill that even their allies admit will be difficult.

The new bill is designed to provide savings and make businesses more competitive, among other goals.

The bill that Wyden, a Democrat and Gregg, a Republican from New Hampshire hope to make law will decrease the number of tax brackets to three, create a flat corporate rate of 24 percent and boost standard deductions for most Americans.
It would also remove a host of provisions that benefit only a small number of privileged taxpayers, Wyden said.
