Hillsboro-based UniteOR (as in “Operating Room”) is an online tool that provides secure, real-time data storage and retrieval.

“The genesis was, ‘Let’s unite everyone in the operating room,'” said UniteOR CEO Cameron Werschkul, a former sales representative for Zimmer Holdings, the world’s largest supplier of orthopedic implants and instruments.

UniteOR was co-founded in 2009 by Dr. Sohaib Kureshi, a San Diego neurosurgeon, and Brian McGuire, who had earlier founded Shoreline Surgical LLC, a medical device distributorship in San Diego. McGuire approached Werschkul — a friend from the age of 14 who happened to go into the same profession — who “narrowed the focus and turned it into a company,” Werschkul said.
