Leaders are asking state officials to more closely examine the potential for sprawl that could be caused by the new bridge.
Of course, one planner’s sprawl is another’s economic development. And Ridgefield-area officials consider a smooth bridge crossing essential to the local economy.
“I could understand the concern that the jobs locate on one side of the river and the other side becomes a bedroom community,” said Justin Clary, Ridgefield’s city manager. “But we’re trying to build a balanced community that has a larger population as well as a larger number of jobs.”
