The Portland startup helps connect real estate developers with investors.

CrowdStreet already has a portfolio of large projects, like the New Jersey office building, from developers seeking backers. It was enabled by a provision of the 2012 federal JOBS Act, which authorized certain kinds of crowdfunded investments.

In CrowdStreet’s case, the opportunities are open only to “accredited investors,” which typically means they must have a net worth of more than $1 million.
