The cost of workers’ compensation for Oregon employers will decrease an average of 5.3% in 2015.

The agency has approved a decrease in “pure premium” — the portion of their workers’ compensation premium that employers pay insurers to cover anticipated claims costs for job-related injuries and deaths.

The state has experienced a decline in workers’ compensation payments in both lost wages and medical care related to on-the-job injuries and deaths. Lower average costs in both those areas helped drive down the pure premium for a second straight year.
