Compared with pay for presidents at the dozen or so most similar universities, all the presidents of major private colleges in Oregon except one earned below-average wages in 2011, the Chronicle found.
The exception was Pacific University President Lesley Hallick, who was paid $560,000 in 2011, making her the 141st highest paid private college president in the nation, the Chronicle found. She earned a base salary of $345,000 plus $215,000 in other pay that year, the higher education news source reported.
According to another study by the Chronicle of Higher Ed, Oregon’s top-paid public university president out-earns Hallick and the rest of the private university field. Oregon State University President Ed Ray was paid $590,000 in total compensation in 2011-12.
