Apple is considering 96 acres near Prineville to expand its data center, even though the first one isn’t even finished yet.

“We have an industrial user, ‘Project Pillar,’ that in the past has expressed some interest in the land,” said Phil Stenbeck, assistant planning director for Crook County.

The county and city are working to bring the acreage into the city limits, Stenbeck said, so it could be developed for industrial use.

Though Stenbeck declined to identify the company behind Project Pillar by name, it’s plainly Apple.
