The much anticipated ranking of the top 100 Best Companies to Work For will be listed in the March 2019 issue of Oregon Business Magazine along with a countdown of the 2019 top ten companies. The rankings are based on the confidential input of employees who answered questions about workplace satisfaction such as benefits, management, trust, work environment and career development. The survey was voluntary and free of charge; results are independently calculated by research partner Checkpoint Surveys.

After learning ACHS was ranked in the top 100 for 2019, we asked faculty and staff to share feedback that influenced their response on this year’s survey. Here’s what they shared:

“Everyone is so nice, making ACHS the most pleasant place I’ve ever worked.” – Audra Turner, ACHS Executive Assistant

“ACHS is a fantastic place to work. Everyone is very supportive both professionally and personally. I feel that I am challenged to excel in life-long learning, and I am supported and valued for my work performance.” – Julie Moreschi, ACHS Nutrition & Integrative Health Faculty

“ACHS is employee-friendly with great leadership who truly value what their employees bring to the organization. For a relatively small company, they provide competitive benefits, provide for volunteer opportunities, and have a wonderful time working together. It’s one of the best places I’ve ever worked.” – Charli Hislop, ACHS VP of Academic Affairs

“ACHS fosters a positive environment with excellent support services for students and faculty. It’s a great place to work!” – Heen Delfakis, ACHS Nutrition Faculty

“If I had to choose two words to describe working at ACHS, I would say kindness and excellence. The staff and faculty are some of the most knowledgeable, capable people I have ever worked with, and they deliver that skill with kindness. That is a rare and wonderful combination, to embody kindness to foster excellence.” – Judith Boice, ACHS Aromatherapy Faculty

“As a wellness-focused college and Certified B Corporation®, our mission is to educate our students, as well as our staff and community, about how to live healthier lives,” says ACHS Founding President, Dorene Petersen. “We are committed to operating with integrity deserving of the trust of our students, customers, suppliers, community, and staff — so it’s a great honor to be recognized by our family of employees for our efforts to make working at ACHS a healthy, rewarding experience.”

ACHS policies reflect the value of each staff member to the overall team and demonstrate the social impact that thoughtful corporate policies can have in the workplace. Creating policies like our paid parental leave and telecommuting options help our valuable, trusted and committed long-term employees balance work, family, and other pursuits. In a knowledge-based industry like ours, that adds significant value, and that is the heart of the B Corp™ supporting the triple bottom line of people and the planet, as well as profits. ACHS was the first accredited higher education institution specializing in holistic health and wellness to become a Certified B Corporation®.

Headquartered in the John’s Landing neighborhood of SW Portland, ACHS’s mission is to provide: professional online and on-campus education and high-quality natural products with a commitment to sustainable practices and principles. The college’s commitment includes a focus on green practices and principles to ensure a clean and safe working environment and to foster a culture of environmental stewardship within the office and the greater community.
