A $7 million federal grant may lead to the reopening of Siskiyou Rail line, reducing costs for southern Oregon shippers

Congressman Peter DeFazio and Senators Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley announced the grant Tuesday.

The rail line goes between Medford and Weed, California and has been out of service since 2008.  The cost to reopen the line is estimated at $9.49 million.  Most of the remaining $2.4 million will come from Central Oregon and Pacific Railroad, which owns the
line.
