The new policy would replace a previous ban struck down by Oregon Court of Appeals.
Since a September court decision, students and faculty with concealed weapons permits can legally pack guns on Oregon's seven university campuses, but that may end on Friday.

"There is strong support for this policy on the board," said board member Jim Francesconi. "We believe this complies with the court decision."
