About 400 state employees didn’t take enough furlough days in the 2009-11 budget period, according to the Oregon Department of Administrative Services.

That amounts to slightly more than 1 percent of the total state workforce of 35,000, all of whom were required to take off 10 to 14 unpaid days to help Oregon deal with its tight budget.

The workers will not be penalized but will receive a letter warning of disciplinary action if they don’t meet their furlough requirements this time around, said Marjorie Taylor, a senior policy advisor and legislative coordinator.
