Despite lower costs to buy power and fuel, Portland General Electric Co. profits fell 45%.

Oregon’s largest utility said its net income fell to $27 million, or 36 cents per share, for the quarter that ended Sept. 30, down from $49 million, or 65 cents per share, during the same period last year.

Revenue fell 5.4 percent to $439 million from $464 million a year ago when the number was boosted by accounting and tax-related issues.
