Portland’s Hollywood district Fred Meyer is the first in the nation to have one of ECOtality Inc.’s fast-charging electric vehicle stations installed.
San Francisco-based ECOtality is overseeing the U.S. Department of Energy-financed EV Project, which is working to install 14,000 electric vehicle charging stations across 16 states and major metropolitan areas over the next three years. The $230 million public-private project includes a $114.8 million stimulus grant from the U.S. Department of Energy.
ECOtality back in March said it struck a partnership with Portland-based Fred Meyer — a division of The Kroger Co. — to install a series of its Blink charging stations across select Fred Meyer stores in Oregon in Washington. But…the Hollywood store [is] the first in the nation to host a Blink fast-charging station, which can bring a Nissan Leaf all-electric vehicle up to 80 percent battery capacity within 30 minutes.
