In the decade following the dot-com bust, little funding money was available for tech entrepreneurs in Oregon. That seems to be changing now.

The ongoing revival in Oregon tech entrepreneurship has been accompanied by a leap in new resources, and a fragmented investment community is starting to coalesce, pooling its efforts to push toward a startup renaissance in Oregon. 

With banks still clutching their purse strings, the outlook for Portland startups remain uncertain. But at the moment, more resources are available to new tech businesses than in many years. 

“It’s getting better. If you can’t get funded here, you’ll at least get pointers,” [Geoloqi founder Amber] Case said. “We haven’t had a network of ‘been-there, done that’ before. And now we do.”
